My grand-dog Cooper was running with a little too much gusto and split his nail. Lots of blood. Yuck. Most dogs make yellow snow, but Cooper made red snow. (Sorry). His mom and dad took him to the new vet (they just moved a few weeks ago). The vet used his magic potion to convince Cooper to take a little nap while he removed the nail. Then Cooper, with more energy than sense, thought he should continue running. His mom and dad have more sense than energy, and kept him confined to the house. Cooper was not happy. Cooper was bored. So he redirected his energy into licking it. And licking it and licking it and licking it. Infection. Back to vet. Antibiotics. Cone. Try convincing Cooper it's his own fault that he's wearing a cone.

The cone of shame. My dog was mortified by the cone because we laughed at him. Poor baby.

Poor baby, I had to have one of these on one of my Yorkies, he hated it. You just feel so bad because they look so pitiful. Hope he gets well soon.

Bwahaha, I am very sorry to laugh, but I have a dog that is like this - I am sorry for you and poor little Cooper, but you wrote very humorously and gave me some comfort knowing I am not the only one with a dog like this!
Poor Cooper - it's hard sometimes to be a dog.
We had to have our dog's dew claws removed, he kept catching them on things outside, so was easier to take them off. Mine hates collars, he loses his sense of balance, so I just have to watch him when he has vet visits.

Oh no - the cone of shame. My oldest sheltie sends her heartfelt sympathies...been there and done that! She was actually diagnosed as depressed by the vet because of wearing it. Poor Cooper!
the look on that puppy's face is just priceless...how the heck did i end up here????????? we have grandpuppies, too. as well as grandchildren, but the puppies are so fun too.
